Looking to the Future

Posted on November 24, 2020 by Rev Jonathan Smith

What are your plans for Christmas? Usually, that would be an entirely innocent question in mid-November. By this point in the year most of us would have already made our arrangements for Christmas: the parties and lunches would be booked,… Continue Reading →

The Basis for Judgement

Posted on November 24, 2020 by Rev Jonathan Smith

Parents, teachers, and others dealing with children on a daily basis regularly face the dilemma of how and when to reward and how and when to punish. Did Johnny mean to hit his sister with a cricket bat or was… Continue Reading →

Sheep & Goats

I’d like to take you on a little trip down Memory Lane, back to a time when things in general seemed a little more care free. I’d like you to imagine that it’s a beautiful day in the middle of… Continue Reading →

Peaches and Pharisees

Posted on November 11, 2020 by Rev Jonathan Smith

I have to admit that I am rather partial to peaches. Fresh or tinned I like them both and they are a wonderful companion for jelly, ice cream or evaporated milk. They go quite nicely with fresh cream as well… Continue Reading →

Who do you think Jesus really is?

Posted on November 11, 2020 by Rev Jonathan Smith

Just a few short weeks ago I was listening to Jonathan preaching his Sunday morning sermon. If my memory serves me right he preached about a king whose son was about to be married and a wonderful feast had been… Continue Reading →

Are we ready for Jesus to come?

Posted on November 11, 2020 by Rev Jonathan Smith

Most of us have been caught off guard by the Coronavirus pandemic. People are constantly surprised by having to live in ways and take precautions that would never have been imagined a year ago. But virologists, people who study infectious… Continue Reading →

Careless Sowing

Back in the summer…when we were allowed to travel out of Wrexham… our little holiday took us amongst other places to Lyme Regis in Dorset. It is famed for fossils which can readily be found below the cliffs on what… Continue Reading →

Is God Fair?

Posted on October 6, 2020 by Rev Jonathan Smith

Everyone who has ever had children will be familiar with the cry: ‘it’s not fair.’ A friend of mine who had 3 daughters and was constantly subject to grumbles about a lack of fairness would simply tell them that nothing… Continue Reading →

“Hakuna Matata”

Posted on October 6, 2020 by Rev Jonathan Smith

In 1994, Walt Disney Studios released the animated version of the film “The Lion King.” I’m sure that we all know the story. The film is about the adventures of a young lion cub named Simba and his struggle to… Continue Reading →

Dealing with arguments.

Posted on September 14, 2020 by Rev Jonathan Smith

It has been a difficult year for sport. As many of you know, I have a keen interest in cycling, but we have had to wait until now to enjoy the top race, the Tour de France. One evening last… Continue Reading →

St Mark on the Park

Dear All
I hope everyone is safe and well as we move through this darkest of Januarys. At the heart of this Epiphany season is mystery made known. I am sure many of us are living with a sense of mystery, wondering why and how it is that our lives are so reduced and the modern world appears powerless in the wake of the pandemic. Yet, the vaccine does provide us with light and hope and I know some of you have already received yours.

But beyond the vaccine is the mystery that has been hidden throughout the ages and generations now revealed to the saints..the word of God. (Colossians 1.26) God's word to us is a vaccine, a cure for our souls...and you don't even need to wait to be called, for in Jesus, God is calling you now. Amen.

There is no 'in person' worship until next month at the earliest. Online worship this Sunday is at 10.00am on the Facebook site and will be available thereafter on the website. Coffee and chat follows at 11.00am via zoom. All are welcome to join. The Zoom is
