Perhaps you’ve never been to church before. Maybe it’s been many years since you last attended a service. Perhaps you’ve moved into the area, are exploring faith, or are simply curious about what happens in church.
Whatever has brought you here, you’re very welcome.
At St Mark’s, we are a friendly and hospitable family of faith at the heart of Caia Park. We believe church should be a place where everyone can encounter God’s love, find friendship, and feel that they belong.
There’s no need to be nervous.
Visiting a church for the first time can feel daunting. Many people wonder:
- What should I wear?
- Where do I sit?
- Will I know what to do?
- What if I’ve never been to church before?
The simple answer is: don’t worry.
Come as you are. There is no dress code, no expectation of prior knowledge, and no need to have all the answers. Our congregation is made up of people from many different backgrounds and experiences, and we are always delighted to welcome newcomers.
What happens on a Sunday?
Our main act of worship is the Sunday Eucharist at 11:00am.
The service includes:
- A warm welcome
- Prayers and readings from the Bible
- A sermon or reflection
- Holy Communion
- Worship and fellowship
Everything is easy to follow, and members of the congregation will be happy to help if you are unsure about anything.
After the service, we gather for refreshments and conversation. Many people find this is one of the best ways to get to know others and become part of the St Mark’s community.
What do I wear?
Come as you are and as you feel comfortable. We are a relaxed church so people come in anything from a suit to jeans and t-shirt. All we ask is whatever you wear it is respectable to those who are attending church.
Can I bring children?
Absolutely. We welcome children of all ages. If you need to get up during the serve to attend to them then that is perfectly fine. We want children to feel comfortable, relaxed and part of the community here at St Mark’s as well.
What if I arrive late?
Don’t worry about it. Services start at 11am but we all run late from time to time. Turn up when you can and someone will come and greet you and provide you with all the information you need for the service.
How long does the service last?
Our 11am service on a Sunday lasts around 1 hour, however afterwards there is tea, coffee, squash and biscuits where all are welcome to stay and meet one another informally.
Is there parking?
There is a small car park in front of the church, however there is lots of non-residence parking spaces in the streets and areas directly around the church. There is also a local bus service which stops less than 1 minute walk away.
Can I come if I’m unsure about faith?
Absolutely.
You don’t need to be certain about what you believe to come to church. Many people begin attending because they are exploring life’s bigger questions, looking for hope, seeking a sense of purpose, or wanting to learn more about Christianity.
Faith is often a journey rather than a destination, and wherever you are on that journey, there is a place for you here.
Is communion for everyone?
Communion is for those who have been Baptised. However whether you are a lifelong Christian, exploring faith or visiting for the first time all are welcome at St Mark’s. If you are unsure about communion the simply speak to the priest before the service. However, you can simply come forward during communion and ask for a blessing instead.

Whether you come on your own, with a friend, as a couple, or with your family, you will receive the same warm welcome.
